sashiko
Sashiko, literally meaning "little stabs", is a form of decorative reinforcement stitching from Japan. Traditionally used to reinforce points of wear, or to repair worn places or tears with patches, this running stitch technique is often used for purely decorative purposes in quilting. Aurifil Mako' 12 thread is 100% cotton and has a heavier look than the other quilting threads, making it suitable for sashiko by hand or machine. If hand stitching, remember to cut your threads 10-12" long to avoid tangling and knotting while stitching.
