topstitching
For beautiful topstitching, you need to combine three fundamental tools, thread, presser foot, and needles. Mako' 28 does a great job as a topstitching thread. It is thicker than most machine threads and is available in 216 colours allowing you to match the thread to your fabric. You may also achieve great results in topstitching with Cotton 40 and Cotton 12
stitching miniature blocks
Cotton Mako 50 gives excellent results when stitching miniature blocks. The "secret" here is that the fine thread allows you to stitch a perfect flat seam
buttonholes
Available on 1000 metre (1094yd) green plastic spool holder, cotton 40 is great for buttonholes. You may also achieve great buttonholes with Cotton 50, Cotton 28, Cotton 12 and Aurifil Wool thread
ditch stitching
As it is a little finer than the Mako' 28 thread it is great for ditch stitching and fine detail work, while still having sufficient definition to look good when you want the thread and stitching to feature.
hand sewing
Aurifil Makò 50 is such high quality that it will withstand the stress of hand sewing. Apart from the Cotton 50 you can also achieve great results when hand sewing with Cotton 40.
